Service Completed: Custom Back Box Delete & Centre Exit Exhaust Conversion

At MIJ Exhaust Ltd, we recently completed a custom back box delete and centre exit exhaust conversion on this 2003 Nissan X-Trail Sport TD 2.2L Diesel, transforming both the appearance and character of the vehicle with a bespoke stainless steel exhaust fabrication.

For this build, the customer requested a complete change to the factory rear exhaust layout. Originally, the vehicle featured a single exhaust exiting to one side with a downward-curved tailpipe concealed beneath the rear bumper. Our team fabricated a custom stainless steel rear section to remove the factory back box and create a new centre exit exhaust arrangement.

The conversion was finished with a twin-tip centre exit design, giving the rear of the X-Trail a much more distinctive and purposeful appearance. Positioning the exhaust centrally provides a unique look compared to the original setup and significantly modernises the vehicle’s rear-end styling.

In addition to the visual transformation, the back box delete allows the 2.2-litre diesel engine to produce a more noticeable and refined exhaust note, adding extra character while maintaining suitability for everyday driving.

All fabrication work was carried out in-house using high-quality stainless steel, ensuring excellent durability, corrosion resistance, and precise fitment. Every component was custom-made specifically for this vehicle, allowing us to achieve the exact look and finish requested by the customer.
