Service Completed: Custom Downpipe-Back Exhaust System Upgrade

At MIJ Exhaust Ltd, we recently completed a bespoke exhaust upgrade on this Jaguar XJ V8 R (2003) 4.2L Petrol, designed to enhance exhaust flow, improve sound, and bring out the full character of the naturally aspirated V8 engine.

This build featured a full custom downpipe-back system, replacing the factory exhaust with a freer-flowing setup designed to reduce restriction throughout the entire system. The upgrade allows the 4.2L V8 to breathe more efficiently, resulting in improved throttle response and a deeper, more refined exhaust note with a stronger V8 presence under load.

As part of this installation, we fabricated custom-built exhaust boxes specifically tailored for this system. These were designed in-house to control sound levels while still allowing the engine to produce a more engaging and authentic V8 tone, striking the perfect balance between performance and refinement.

The system was carefully engineered to suit the luxury performance character of the XJR, maintaining a clean and OEM+ appearance while significantly enhancing the driving experience.

As with all of our exhaust systems, this setup was hand-fabricated in-house using high-quality T304 stainless steel and fully TIG welded, ensuring excellent durability, corrosion resistance, and a precise, long-lasting fit.
