Service Completed: Custom Cat-Back Exhaust System with Twin Staggered Chrome Tips

At MIJ Exhaust Ltd, we recently carried out a custom cat-back exhaust upgrade on this 2008 Ford Focus Zetec 1.6L Petrol, transforming both the sound and appearance of the vehicle while giving it a much sportier character.

For this build, we fabricated and installed a custom mid and rear exhaust system from the catalytic converter backwards. The original exhaust system featured a downward-facing hidden tailpipe, which offered very little visual presence at the rear of the vehicle. To achieve the desired finish, we carefully modified and prepared the rear diffuser area, allowing it to accommodate the customer’s chosen exhaust tips and provide a cleaner, more purposeful appearance.

The customer opted for a straight-through design with no rear silencers, allowing the exhaust gases to flow more freely and giving the 1.6-litre petrol engine a louder, sharper, and sportier exhaust note. The custom system significantly increases the vehicle’s presence both at idle and throughout the rev range, delivering a much more engaging driving experience.

To complete the transformation, we fitted a pair of twin staggered chrome exhaust tips. The polished chrome finish provides a clean and timeless appearance, while the staggered design adds a subtle performance-inspired touch. The upgraded tailpipes dramatically improve the rear-end aesthetics of the Focus, giving the vehicle a more aggressive and purposeful look compared to the original hidden exhaust outlet.

The completed setup delivers a noticeably louder and more distinctive exhaust note than the factory system, helping to bring out more character from the 1.6-litre engine while providing the sharper tone the customer was looking for. Combined with the custom diffuser preparation and twin exit styling, the modification significantly enhances both the sound and appearance of the vehicle.
