Service Completed: Custom Backbox Delete & Twin Tip Upgrade

At MIJ Exhaust Ltd, we recently completed a bespoke exhaust upgrade on this BMW 525i SE Touring (2001) 2.5L Petrol, designed to enhance sound, improve exhaust flow, and refresh the rear-end styling with a more performance-inspired finish.

This build featured a custom backbox delete, removing the restrictive factory rear silencer to allow the straight-six engine to breathe more freely. The result is a deeper, more characterful exhaust note with a smoother, more engaging tone that suits the 2.5L petrol engine perfectly.

As part of the transformation, we upgraded the rear exit from a curled-down factory tip to a twin-tip setup, significantly improving the visual presence of the rear of the vehicle. This change gives the Touring a cleaner, more aggressive OEM+ appearance while still keeping it tasteful and in line with BMW styling.

As with all of our exhaust systems, this setup was hand-fabricated in-house using high-quality T304 stainless steel and fully TIG welded, ensuring excellent durability, corrosion resistance, and a precise, long-lasting fit.
