Service Completed: Cat-Back Straight Pipe Exhaust with Black Chrome Oval Tip

At MIJ Exhaust Ltd, we recently completed a custom cat-back exhaust upgrade on this 2010 BMW 318d 2.0L Diesel, replacing the factory exhaust system with a bespoke straight pipe setup designed to improve both the appearance and character of the vehicle.

For this build, our stainless steel exhaust fabricators manufactured and installed a custom cat-back straight pipe exhaust system, replacing the exhaust components from the catalytic converter backwards. The new system was designed to provide a cleaner, more free-flowing exhaust path while offering a durable, long-lasting alternative to the original setup.

The vehicle retained its single-exit configuration, meaning the exhaust exits from one side of the rear bumper. Rather than altering the factory layout, the focus of this upgrade was to enhance the existing design with a custom-fabricated system and a more premium finishing touch.

To complete the rear section, we fitted a black chrome oval exhaust tip. The oval design complements the styling of the BMW perfectly, while the black chrome finish adds a subtle modern edge that stands out without being overly aggressive. The result is a clean OEM+ appearance that suits the vehicle exceptionally well.

As with many of our custom exhaust builds, this project demonstrates that you don’t always need a complex multi-exit conversion to make a significant improvement. A well-designed cat-back system combined with the right finishing details can dramatically enhance both the look and feel of a vehicle while retaining its original character.
